Project Description

Replacement of a structurally deficient one-lane steel pony truss bridge in very poor structural condition. Project included removal of existing bridge and construction of a 186 foot, three-span, post-tensioned concrete slab bridge. This bridge is Delaware County’s first post-tensioned slab bridge. About 0.10 miles of roadway approach reconstruction on Hoskins Road was done to improve the safety of the bridge approaches and eliminate the sharp vertical drop at the east bridge approach. About 0.16 miles of River Road was reconstructed to match the new, raised elevation of the intersection with Hoskins Road. Two culverts were replaced under River Road, and new guardrail was installed.

Project Location and Limits:

Hoskins Road from S.R. 257 to about 0.1 miles east of River Road.
