09-27-2013: Public Meeting for Panhandle Road Bridge over Olentangy River Scheduled for October 3

A public meeting will be held on Thursday, October 3 from 4 to 7 pm to present information about the proposed replacement of the Panhandle Road bridge over the Olentangy River. The open house format meeting will be held at the Frank B. Willis Building located at 2079 US 23 North, Delaware, OH 43015 in the Board of Elections Conference Room. 09-04-2013:  Sunbury Road Bridge in Galena to Close for 36 hours Starting Friday 9/6 at 6pm:

Sunbury Road Bridge in Galena, currently under construction, will close to all traffic for approximately 36 hours starting Friday 9/6 at 6 pm for crews to pour concrete for the second half of the bridge deck.  The closure is necessary to allow the concrete to cure without damage from traffic loads.  The bridge will reopen to westbound only traffic (as currently operating) on Sunday at 6 am.  Crews will then have approximately 3 weeks of work remaining before the bridge will be fully reopened to two-way traffic.

 

08-01-2013: Panhandle Road Bridge to Close 8/5 for 5 days:

The Panhandle Road bridge over Olentangy River (just east of US 23) will close for 5 days starting Monday, August 5 to repair damage to the guardrail from a crash. Crews will also be repairing the edges of the deck while the guardrail is being replaced. The detour for this work will use US 23 to Main Road, and the reverse.

 

07-19-2013:  Intersection of SR 315 and Orange Road to close July 29 for 5 weeks:

The intersection of State Route 315 and Orange/Carriage Roads will close July 29 for about 5 weeks to allow for construction of a new roundabout at this intersection. A previously considered plan would have closed SR 315 for 7 days but left Orange and Carriage Road closed for 60 to 75 days. The revised plan will complete the entire project in half the time. The posted detour route uses SR 750 (Powell Road) to US 23, and the reverse. The roundabout project will be followed by a short term closure of SR 315 south of Home Road for replacement of a culvert. After the culvert project is complete, ODOT will close SR 315 for 60 days north and south of SR 750 (Powell Road) for construction of turn lanes and stabilization of the embankment near the river.  Access to local properties will be maintained at all times.  You can find more information about all three projects here.

 

07-02-2013:  South Old State Road and East Orange Road Closed Fourth of July from 8 am to 1 pm:

South Old State Road will be closed from East Powell Road to Orange Road from 8 am to 1 pm on the Fourth of July.  In addition, East Orange Road will be closed from Old State Road to the Orange Middle School driveway during the same time. Traffic will be able to turn left from Orange Road to go north on Old State Road, and vice versa.

 

07-01-2013:  Africa Road Closed South of I-71 Starting July 8:

Africa Road will be closed July 8 to August 8 between Lewis Center Road/Big Walnut Road and Worthington Road for a roadway reconstruction project just south of the I-71 underpass.  Traffic will be maintained to Crystal Valley Drive from the north, and Lake Trail Drive (Highland Lakes) from teh south.  The posted detour route is Worthington Road to Big Walnut Road.

 

06-19-2013: 2013 Road Improvement Program to Begin June 24:

Work will begin the week of June 24 on resurfacing various county and township roads in Delaware County. The first phase of work will include pavement repairs and chip sealing on various roads. More information will be posted as construction progresses on this project.

 

06-18-13:  Harlem and Smothers Road Closure Postponed until June 26

The intersection closure at Harlem and Smothers Road is postponed until June 26.

 

06-13-2013:  Intersection of Harlem and Smothers Road to Close June 24

The intersection of Harlem and Smothers Road will close starting June 24 for approximately 75 days.  The intersection will be rebuilt into a single lane modern roundabout as a joint project between Delaware and Franklin Counties.  The Franklin County Engineer’s Office will administer the construction of this project.

 

04-02-2013: Public Meeting Scheduled for East Powell Road Improvements on April 11 from 6 to 8 pm:

The Delaware County Engineer’s Office will be hosting an informational meeting about planned improvements to East Powell Road from South Old State Road to Worthington Road. The County Engineer is considering a number of improvements including widening the road, upgrading intersections, improving safety of existing curves, constructing a multi-use path and/or sidewalks and various drainage improvements within this corridor. Maps and other information about several alternatives being considering will be available for your review. 03-21-2013:  Sunbury Road Bridge Closure Delayed until April 22:

The closure of the Sunbury Road bridge in Galena is being delayed until April 22 to allow for a gas line to be moved off of the bridge. Crews will be on site performing site preparation beginning the week of April 1, but two-way traffic will be maintained until April 22 when the bridge will be closed to traffic leaving Galena.

 

03-11-2013: Sunbury Road Bridge in Downtown Galena to Close to Eastbound Traffic Starting April 1:

The Delaware County Engineer will begin the bridge replacement project on Sunbury Road just east of the Galena Village Square on Monday, April 1. Construction is scheduled to last through October 1, 2013.  Sunbury Road (Columbus Street) will be closed to eastbound traffic (leaving Galena) during this timeframe.  The posted detour route will use South Old 3C Highway to Big Walnut Road.  Westbound traffic (entering Galena) will be maintained for the duration of the project.  Any questions concerning this matter please contact Robert Riley, Chief Deputy Engineer at (740) 833-2400.
