Construction Updates
June 17, 2019 – Lewis Center and North Road Intersection to Close for 60 Days Beginning June 24
The intersection of Lewis Center and North Road will close beginning on or about June 24 to begin construction of a new single-lane modern roundabout. This is the second phase of a $3.8 million project to improve both Lewis Center and North Roads in this area. During the closure, the posted detour route will use Shanahan Road, US 23, Orange Road and Old State Road.
Phase 1 of the project which includes reconstruction of North Road will be wrapping up over the next week with paving on North Road as weather permits. Local traffic to residences in the work zone should enter/exit from Shanahan Road during the intersection closure.
Phase 3 will begin in August with a 6 week closure of Lewis Center Road between the Olentangy HS Entrance and Weeping Rock Creek for replacement of a large culvert. All road work will be wrapped up in October this year.
Project Description
Planned improvements to Lewis Center Road (CR 106) between the Olentangy High School entrance and the CSX/Norfolk-Southern Railroad, and North Road between Lewis Center Road and North Farms subdivision. The project will also include a single-lane modern roundabout at the intersection of Lewis Center and North Road. Grading and drainage improvements will be included to make way for a future shared use path to be built on the north side of Lewis Center Road and west side of North Road as a separate project.
