With the residential growth in Liberty and Concord Townships, traffic on Home Road has reached nearly 10,000 vehicles per day. The intersection at State Route 257 suffers severe congestion through various parts of the day. In addition, there are no pedestrian walkways or bike facilities to allow pedestrians or recreational cyclists to get across State Route 257 to existing facilities over the Home Road bridge, and the Concord Park farther west.20 year planning horizon.
The project is located on Home Road at the intersections of State Route 257 and at Section Line Road in Concord Township.
The project will construct a pair of two-lane modern roundabouts; one at the intersection of Home and State Route 257, and the other at Home and Section Line Road. A shared use path will also be provided from the Home Road bridge to Scioto Chase Boulevard.

Work is complete on the first phase of improvements to the Home Road and SR 257 Intersection. SR 257 has been widened both north and south of Home Road to accommodate the new roundabout which will be built starting in June 2014. Temporary concrete pavement was used at locations where raised medians will be installed for the roundabout. These areas will be removed when work resumes on the roundabout next year.
Road Closure Information
Closures will be phased as follows:
Phase 1: Closure of State Route 257 north of Home Road for approximately 5 weeks
Phase 2: Closure of Home Road from State Route 257 to (and including) Section Line Road for approximately 10 weeks
All remaining work will be done while maintaining traffic.
Construction will run from August 2013 to October 2014, with no construction during winter months. All roads will be open to traffic when work is not underway.
Estimated Project Cost
The estimated construction cost of the project is $4.8 million. The project is funded through a combination of federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding provided by the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, and Delaware County Road and Bridge funds.
