Public Meeting Announcement

The City of Westerville, the Delaware County Engineer’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will host an open house public involvement meeting to share the recommended alternative to improve congestion and safety along the Sunbury Road corridor between County Line Road/Smothers Road and Maxtown Road. The recommended improvements include construction of a two-way left turn lane, a second northbound lane, turn lane additions at the County Line Road/Smothers Road intersection, recreational path, and sidewalk. The public is invited to view exhibits of the roadway design and property impacts and ask questions relevant to the project of the Project Management Team (comprised of the City of Westerville, Delaware County Engineer’s Office, ODOT, and ms consultants, the engineering consultant for the project).

The recommended alternative includes construction of a new recreational pathway within the Hoover Reservoir recreational area, which is owned by the City of Columbus. The use of Federal Funds subjects the proposed project to the requirements of Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966. This federal law protects publicly owned parks, recreation areas, wildlife refuges, and historic sites. Because the recommended alternative will not substantially impair the primary functions and components of the recreational area, the project is anticipated to have a de minimis impact to the Hoover Reservoir recreational area. All interested parties are asked to attend and comment on the proposed project. Your input is valuable.
