11-28-2011: Selection of Preferred Alternative for South Old State Road Improvements:
After careful consideration of numerous public comments and in collaboration with the City of Columbus, Alternative 3 has been selected as the preferred alternative.
The South Old State Road Improvements will include construction of an additional lane in each direction on Old State Road from Wynstone Drive (0.1 miles south of Polaris Parkway) to Abbey Knoll Drive (0.1 miles north of Orange Road) and additional turn lanes at Polaris Parkway and Orange Road. The project will also provide a shared use path and sidewalks for bicyclists and pedestrian. Construction is anticipated in 2016-18.
10-28-2011: South County Line Road to Close for 2 Months:
Delaware-Licking County Line Road will close between Robins Road and Center Village Road / Duncan Plains Road for 2 months for replacement of a bridge. Please contact us with any questions or comments.
08-18-2011: Public Meeting To Be Held August 29 for Smothers & Harlem Road Intersection Improvements:
The Franklin and Delaware County Engineer’s Offices will be hosting an informational meeting to discuss the proposed improvement of the Harlem Road and Smothers Road intersection from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Faith Christian Center, 5325 Smothers Road (adjacent to the intersection). 08-18-11: East Orange Road to Reopen Friday, August 19
East Orange Road will reopen to traffic east of Old State Road at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 19. Construction began on the final phase of the project in March to widen Orange Road, replace a bridge and build a new single lane roundabout at the intersection of Roespark Drive. Work will continue into September to complete a new shared use path extending from Old State to Bale Kenyon Road while maintaining traffic on Orange Road.
06-24-11: Public Meeting To Be Held July 20 for South Old State Road Improvements:
The Delaware County Engineer’s Office will be hosting an informational meeting on Wednesday, July 20 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Orange Township Hall, 1680 East Orange Road for the South Old State Road Improvements project. Conceptual alternatives for the project will be displayed and engineers will be present to answer questions about the project. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
06-17-11: 2011 Road Resurfacing Project to Begin Week of June 20
Work will begin the week of June 20 on resurfacing various county and township roads in Delaware County. The first phase of work will include pavement repairs and chip sealing on various roads. More information will be posted as construction progresses on this project.
06-16-11: Freeman Road to Close West of SR 3 on June 20 for 4 weeks
Freeman Road will be closed west of SR 3 for 4 weeks beginning Monday, June 20 for the next phase of reconstruction of the intersection with State Route 3. Access will be restricted east of Blackhawk Forest Drive for local traffic only. The posted detour uses Worthington Road to Big Walnut Road, or the reverse.
05-31-11: East Orange Road at Roespark Drive (and Middle School Entrance) to Close June 9th for 10 weeks
The road closure on East Orange Road will be extended to include the intersection of Roespark Drive (and the Orange Middle School Entrance) starting June 9th for construction of the third and final roundabout. The closure will last until mid-August. Temporary access to Orange Middle School will be from the High School entrance off Walker Wood Boulevard.
05-25-11: Freeman Road Closed East of SR 3 for 3 weeks
Freeman Road will be closed east of SR 3 for 3 weeks beginning today, May 25. Crews will be rebuilding Freeman Road just east of State Route 3 as part of a project to construct turn lanes and a traffic signal at the intersection with State Route 3. Access to the Northside Fellowship Presbyterian Church and Feridean Commons will be from Old 3C during this time.
05-10-11: State Route 3 & Freeman Road Intersection Work Begins May 16
Construction is scheduled to begin on the State Route 3 & Freeman Road Intersection Improvements on May 16. The initial phase of work will include installing a culvert under State Route 3 just south of the intersection, which will be done during off-peak traffic hours while maintaining one lane of traffic with flaggers. 05-10-11: East Orange Road Construction Update
Work on the new bridge just east of Old State Road will be completed this Thursday, May 12 at which time access to Cross Creek Court will only be available from Old State Road across the new bridge. East Orange Road will remain closed to through traffic from Old State Road to Roespark Drive while crews continue rebuilding the road and installing storm sewers from Cross Creek Court to Roespark Drive. Construction of the third and final roundabout at Roespark and East Orange Road will begin in mid-June and will be completed in August of this year.
04-07-11: Olive Green & Porter Central Road to Close April 25 for 12 weeks
Reconstruction of the intersection of Olive Green Road and Porter Central Road will begin April 25. The intersection will be closed for a period of about 12 weeks. The project includes replacement of two bridges near the intersections, and improvement to the road to soften the sharp bend at the intersection. 03-01-11: East Orange Road to Close March 7 for 5 months
Work will resume on the reconstruction of East Orange Road beginning March 7. The work will initially include replacement of the small bridge just east of Old State Road. This phase of the project will require full closure of the road from Old State to Roespark Blvd. and the Orange MS entrance. Residents living on Cross Creek Court must access their street from the east until after the bridge is completed in April, then access will be from the west. Additional information will be provided at that time.
The posted detour route uses Old State Rd. to Lewis Center Rd. to Bale Kenyon Rd. and the reverse. Local traffic will be maintained to residences along Orange Road. The closure of East Orange Road will last until mid-August. Please contact the County Engineer’s Office with any questions.
